Lee McConnell, Scotland’s glamorous Olympic hopeful

August 19th, 2008

Lee McConnell (born October 9, 1978) is a Scottish athlete who competes in the 400 metres. She attended Holyrood R.C. Secondary School in Glasgow before graduating from Loughborough University in 2000 with a degree in Sports Science. She won the Scottish 200 metre champion in 2002, and 2005. She also won the 400 metres in 2001. In 2002 she also won the AAAs 400 metre championships, she also won an Individual Bronze medal at the 2002 European championships, then added a Commonwealth Silver in the 400 in that same season.

Lee McConnell is looking forward to the sofas in Beijing. The washing machines will be welcome, too. She has seen photographs and, as athletes’ villages go, China’s comes close to luxury.

“It might sound like a strange thing to be excited about, but sometimes there are just hard seats at the athletes’ village and I can’t sit on them for long because my back gets stiff,” the 400m runner explains.

Check Out the New Website

April 19th, 2007

The Clan MacAlister Society is announcing that, along with its status as a new non-profit corporation, we have a new interactive web site for your enjoyment and use at www.clanmacalistersociety.org.The new web site is designed to give you access to each of the Commissioners, Committee Chairmen and Officers through individual interactive pages and e-mail address dedicated to each of them. There is a CMS member forum page where you can post messages about your CMS events and personal news item that will be of interest to members.

Regularly check the calendar for those events and Highland Games where CMS will be participating, plus links to a schedule of all the Highland Games in the world. There is a page for each of the District Commissioners so you can see what your Commissioner Staff is doing and where they are going to be participating in Highland Games. You can now contact them through their page. How cool is that? In addition, there are links to Scottish merchants and other web sites of interest.

However, before you can post messages on the CMS website, you will need to register with Web Master, Rob Saunders. We need to have everyone register so we can keep the spammers, bad guys, cattle rustling McGregors and of course, the Campbells from creating mischief and mayhem on the website. Just kidding…. no I’m not.

Rob has designed the web site so it will always be a work in progress. It can only get better in the future as we think of new features to add, interesting things to see and do and additional links as time goes on. If you know of a web site or idea for the web site that would be of interest to the CMS membership, please contact me or Rob and we will take a look.

We are most grateful to Clansmen Rob Saunders for not only developing the new web site but for remaining on as the Official CMS Web Master.

Rob is a professional web site developer and teaches computer sciences at a college in New York state. Rob has many companies as clients and is available to assist you in developing or managing your business web site. See his web page by clicking on his link at the bottom of our web Home page.

Remember to register, bookmark and visit the new CMS web site often for all of the latest news and event schedules. I hope to see you soon in cyberspace.
